- El programa de eventos se desarrollará desde el domingo 16 al lunes 24 de enero
San Fulgencio volverá a disfrutar este año de las fiestas en honor a su patrón y co-patrón del municipio, San Fulgencio y San Antonio Abad. Así lo ha indicado el alcalde, José Sampere, quien ha informado que tras haber tenido que suspender muchas de las actividades el año pasado por motivo de la pandemia, “este año hemos decidido seguir adelante con aquellos actos más característicos y que pueden desarrollarse al aire libre y siguiendo todas las medidas de seguridad sanitaria”.
De esta manera, y aunque no se llevarán a cabo eventos festivos, se retomarán actos tan tradicionales como la bendición del pan y de los animales tan típica de esta celebración, además de la comida de hermandad en el paraje El Oasis, “siempre con las recomendaciones de las autoridades, como llevar mascarilla y mantener la distancia de seguridad”, ha manifestado el primer edil. Sampere ha indicado también que “está prevista la presencia de voluntarios de Protección Civil de San Fulgencio y Policía Local, para que puedan verificar que los asistentes cumplen con todas estas indicaciones por el interés y bienestar de todos”.
Por su parte, Josefina Sampere, concejala de Fiestas del casco urbano, ha detallado la programación de actos, que comenzarán a partir del domingo 16 de enero, festividad de San Fulgencio. La edil ha manifestado que “contaremos con cohetes y volteo de campanas desde primera hora para anunciar la festividad, junto con el pasacalles por las calles de la localidad a cargo de la Unión Musical de San Fulgencio, a partir de las 10:00 horas. A las 12:00 horas será cuando tenga lugar la misa en honor al patrón del municipio, “oficiada por el párroco de la iglesia, y con la actuación de la coral Virgen del Remedio”.
Los actos continuarán con el tradicional pasacalles de la ‘recogida de la gallina’, “en el que acompañados por la Unión Musical, se acude a las casas de los vecinos que han querido realizar la donación de un animal para su posterior rifa, para sufragar los gastos de la parroquia”, ha explicado Sampere. Los sanfulgentinos que deseen participar podrán acudir a las oficinas del Ayuntamiento hasta el viernes 14 para dejar sus datos de contacto. La procesión en honor al santo será a partir de las 20:00 horas, con el disparo de fuegos artificiales desde el recinto del teatro Cardenal Belluga al finalizar.
El lunes 17, festividad de San Antonio Abad y festivo local, se realizará también un pasacalles a partir de las 10:00 horas, además de disparo de cohetes y volteo de campanas. La celebración del acto religioso en la parroquia, con la tradicional bendición del pan, tendrá lugar a las 12:00 horas. Allí, a partir de las 17:00 horas, “tendrá lugar la bendición de los animales, a la que invitamos a participar a todos los vecinos, cumpliendo en todo momento la normativa frente al Covid-19, con mascarilla y evitando las aglomeraciones”, ha señalado la edil. La procesión en honor al copatrón del municipio será a partir de las 20:00 horas, con salida desde la parroquia, seguida de una gran alborada de fuegos artificiales.
Otra de las tradiciones recuperadas este año es la comida de hermandad en el paraje natural ‘El Oasis’. Un acto al aire libre en el que el Ayuntamiento proporciona parte del almuerzo de los asistentes, y en el que “seguiremos las indicaciones de la Conselleria de Sanidad para los casos de hostelería, con 10 comensales por mesa y separación entre ellas”, ha especificado la concejala. Los interesados en tomar parte en esta comida, en la que también habrá momentos de ‘tardeo’ y colchonetas hinchables para los más pequeños, tendrán que estar empadronados en el municipio al menos durante un año, y podrán inscribirse o solicitar más información en las oficinas municipales antes de martes 18 de enero.
Los actos en honor a San Fulgencio y San Antonio Abad concluirán con el acto religioso en recuerdo a los difuntos del municipio, que tendrá lugar el lunes 24 de enero en la parroquia, desde las 18:30 horas.
San Fulgencio once again holds its patron saint festivities with open-air events adapted to the rules to face of Covid-19

San Fulgencio will – after missing in 2021 – enjoy the fiestas in honour of its patron saint and co-patron saint of the municipality, San Fulgencio and San Antonio Abad. This has been announced by the mayor, José Sampere, who has reported that after having to suspend many of the activities last year because of the pandemic, “this year we have decided to go ahead with those events that are more characteristic and that can take place outdoors and following all health safety measures”.
In this way, and although no festive events will take place, traditional events such as the blessing of bread and animals, so typical of this celebration, will be resumed, as well as the brotherhood meal in the El Oasis area, “always with the recommendations of the authorities, such as wearing a mask and keeping a safe distance”, said the mayor. Sampere also indicated that “the presence of Civil Protection volunteers from San Fulgencio and the Local Police is planned, so that they can check that those attending comply with all these instructions for the interest and well-being of all”.
For her part, Josefina Sampere, councillor for Fiestas in the town centre, has outlined the programme of events, which will begin on Sunday 16 January, the feast of San Fulgencio. The councillor said that “there will be fireworks and the ringing of bells from early in the morning to announce the festivity, along with the parade through the streets of the town by the San Fulgencio Musical Union, from 10:00 hours. At 12:00 the mass in honour of the patron saint of the municipality will take place, “officiated by the parish priest of the church, and with a performance by the Virgen del Remedio choir”.
The events will continue with the traditional parade of the ‘recogida de la gallina’, “in which, accompanied by the Unión Musical, we go to the houses of the neighbours who have donated an animal for the subsequent raffle, to defray the expenses of the parish,” explained Sampere. Those residents of San Fulgencio who wish to take part can go to the Town Hall offices until Friday 14th to leave their contact details. The procession in honour of the saint will begin at 20:00 hours, with fireworks being set off from the Cardenal Belluga theatre at the end.
On Monday 17th, the feast of San Antonio Abad and a local holiday, there will also be a parade from 10:00 a.m., as well as fireworks and the ringing of bells. The religious ceremony in the parish church, with the traditional blessing of the bread, will take place at 12:00 noon. There, from 17:00 hours, “the blessing of the animals will take place, in which we invite all residents to participate, complying at all times with the rules in front of Covid-19, wearing masks and avoiding crowds,” said the councillor. The procession in honour of the co-patron saint of the municipality will start at 20:00 hours, leaving from the parish church, followed by a great fireworks display.
Another of the traditions returning this year is the brotherhood meal in the natural setting of ‘El Oasis’. An open-air event in which the Town Hall will provide part of the lunch for those attending, and in which “we will follow the indications of the Conselleria de Sanidad for the catering industry, with 10 people per table and separation between them”, specified the councillor. Those interested in taking part in this meal, in which there will also be times of ‘tardeo’ and inflatables for the children, will have to be registered in the municipality for at least one year, and may register or request more information at the municipal offices before Tuesday 18 January.
The events in honour of San Fulgencio and San Antonio Abad will conclude with the religious act in memory of the deceased of the municipality, which will take place on Monday 24th January in the parish church, from 18:30 hours.
