The document is the result of a participatory process that aims to mark a new stage for young people in San Fulgencio
The Plenary meeting of the San Fulgencio Town Council has given the green light to its Municipal Youth Plan for the period 2022-2025. As indicated by the councillor responsible for the area, Samantha Hull, “for the first time we have this document that aims to be a roadmap and responds to the needs of young people in the town, in addition to improving municipal services and benefits aimed especially at them.
This plan has been drawn up through a participatory process in which politicians and municipal technicians as well as the teaching staff of the educational centre and other professionals, as well as the young people of the municipality themselves, have taken part. “It was very important for us to involve young people in the design and planning of this first plan, as well as in its development and evaluation,” said Hull.
In this way, the document has given priority to six areas of action: the housing situation and the difficulty of emancipation of young people; equality, studies and training; health and well-being; leisure and free time; and citizen participation. Hull said that “within each of these themes, the Council has developed numerous measures and actions to meet the demands of the young people of San Fulgencio, which we will soon begin to implement and see materialised”.
Hull also pointed out that the success of the plan will depend “not only on the will of the public authorities, but also on the participation and initiative shown by the young people themselves”. It is in this sense that the councillor has made an appeal “to our young people and social partners involved in this area, so that they do not hesitate to participate and to come to the councillor’s office that I represent to transmit any idea or action that they consider important and want to contribute to the benefit of the youth of San Fulgencio”.
