The document is the result of a participatory process that aims to mark a new stage for young people in San Fulgencio
The Plenary meeting of the San Fulgencio Town Council has given the green light to its Municipal Youth Plan for the period 2022-2025. As indicated by the councillor responsible for the area, Samantha Hull, “for the first time we have this document that aims to be a roadmap and responds to the needs of young people in the town, in addition to improving municipal services and benefits aimed especially at them.
This plan has been drawn up through a participatory process in which politicians and municipal technicians as well as the teaching staff of the educational centre and other professionals, as well as the young people of the municipality themselves, have taken part. “It was very important for us to involve young people in the design and planning of this first plan, as well as in its development and evaluation,” said Hull.
In this way, the document has given priority to six areas of action: the housing situation and the difficulty of emancipation of young people; equality, studies and training; health and well-being; leisure and free time; and citizen participation. Hull said that “within each of these themes, the Council has developed numerous measures and actions to meet the demands of the young people of San Fulgencio, which we will soon begin to implement and see materialised”.
Hull also pointed out that the success of the plan will depend “not only on the will of the public authorities, but also on the participation and initiative shown by the young people themselves”. It is in this sense that the councillor has made an appeal “to our young people and social partners involved in this area, so that they do not hesitate to participate and to come to the councillor’s office that I represent to transmit any idea or action that they consider important and want to contribute to the benefit of the youth of San Fulgencio”.
The platform has more than 150 courses on eight different subjects that can be accessed by all residents over 16 years of age
San Fulgencio Town Council, through the Youth Department, has launched a new training platform available to all residents of the municipality. This initiative, which started last Tuesday, “offers citizens more than 150 online courses in the fields of Tourism, Technology and Design, Management and Administration, Attention to Diversity and Participation; Hospitality and Commerce, trades such as masonry or carpentry; Culture, sport and leisure; and prevention of Covid-19,” said Samantha Hull, councillor responsible for the area.
As the councillor pointed out, “this is a very interesting initiative for those who wish to complete their training in an easy and simple way, as they can access it from home via the internet, without having to travel to any centre”. The only requirement for the use of this platform, which will be completely free for residents, “will be to be over 16 years old and reside in the municipality, with no age limit,” said Hull. The only limitation for the completion of courses will be to complete the previous one to be able to start the next one, and once the training is finished, users will obtain a diploma certifying the professional skills acquired in it.
The mayor has encouraged the population to use this platform, an initiative that “from the City Council of San Fulgencio we are convinced that it will contribute to the progress of our municipality, improving the education and training of all residents. Hull also said that “training is key to the development of our society, and this comprehensive training offer will contribute to further progress towards a better future for everyone”.
