A cycle path will improve road safety and connect the city centre of San Fulgencio with the urbanisations

  • The Regional Ministry of Territorial Policy, Public Works and Mobility is starting to implement this route, which will make it easier to move around the municipality

Work has already begun on the construction of the cycle lane which will allow the residents of San Fulgencio to travel more easily and safely between the town centre and the urbanisation area. As reported by the councillor for Works and Services of San Fulgencio Town Council, Francisco Molero, this action is being carried out free of charge for the Town Council by the Department of Territorial Policy, Public Works and Mobility as part of the planned work to improve access to urbanisations via El Oasis, whose roundabout is already in use. Molero pointed out that this allows us to continue “with our commitment to consolidate and improve road safety and accesses in the municipality”.

The route of the cycle route, which will also include an area adapted for pedestrian traffic, will run parallel to the CV-860 road, with a length of approximately 3 kilometres in both directions. At present, access to the urbanisation via the El Convenio area is cut off. The works will last approximately two months, and as Molero added, “we will ensure that those people who like to walk in the area and exercise will have a safe route to do so”.

In this way, residents of the town centre and the urbanisation will be able to move from one area to the other in a very short time, while at the same time exercising and contributing to the care of the environment by using a sustainable means of transport such as the bicycle.  Molero also stated that “we hope that this route will also serve to connect residents and traders in both the town centre and the urbanisation, as well as making it easier to travel between the two areas to use the different municipal services”.

For his part, the mayor of San Fulgencio, José Sampere, said that “this is one more of the actions carried out by this government team, to fulfil its commitment to provide citizens with useful and beneficial infrastructure for San Fulgencio”. The councillor added that this bike lane “will undoubtedly be a boost to the activity of the municipality, will improve mobility and unity among its residents, while promoting healthy living and a commitment to protecting the environment”.
