San Fulgencio presents at FITUR its new range of ecotourism routes scheduled for 2022

  • The Department of Tourism shows the natural and archaeological heritage of the municipality as the main attraction for holiday and residential tourists

San Fulgencio Town Council has once again attended the International Tourism Fair (FITUR), held from 19th to 23rd January in Madrid, to publicise all the attractions available to visitors. The Mayor, José Sampere, and the Councillor for Tourism, Darren Parmenter, travelled to the capital of Madrid to talk to professionals and visitors about the tourist offer of the municipality, aimed at both holiday and residential tourists.

The municipality was part of the presentations that took place in the videowall under the umbrella of the Costa Blanca Tourist Board. In this exhibition, the programme of ecotourism routes organised by the Department of Tourism for 2022 was unveiled, which “highlight the natural and archaeological wealth of San Fulgencio for anyone who wants to come and see us,” said the mayor.

These routes, which the Tourism Department has been organising for the last two years with a large number of participants, have the aim of disseminating among the population the particularities of the natural environment that surrounds the town, as well as the fauna and flora that live there. In the same way, the aim is to promote the archaeological sites of ‘La Escuera’ and ‘El Oral’, two of the excavation sites of Iberian remains in the province, with guided visits to them. The great acceptance and interest in these eco-routes has justified the drafting of a project to design and equip interpretative itineraries in the municipality.

For his part, Parmenter has indicated that “after my first visit to FITUR in 2020, I was convinced that San Fulgencio had to participate and take advantage of this unique opportunity to showcase its full potential to a large number of potential visitors”. The councillor for Tourism also referred to the prominent role played by the municipality this year, adding that “this is a perfect way to boost the image of the municipality and attract a different type of tourist, at a time that is so necessary for the sector at the moment”.
